The Cold Brew Dilemma
Thursday, July 30th, 2009This summer in San Antonio we are experiencing a drought and continuous weeks of 100+ degrees. It’s hot & as much as I love, LOVE, my hot coffee it’s been difficult to enjoy my afternoon Cup o Joe the past month.
So I started looking into Cold Coffee Brewing Systems and now I face a completely different dilemma.
First of all, do I really want another type of coffee maker on the counter? While some of the cold brew systems look really cool (I’d buy just ’cause they’re pretty) you can actually recreate the process for cold brew with a regular pitcher, spoon and strainer.
Second, will I be able to look forward to my afternoon Joe with that same warm fuzzy feeling?
But the biggest challenge I am having with Cold Brew Coffee is that it takes about 9 to 12 hours to brew!!! How am I suppose to function with that kind of turn around?

MBC #57: Interview with Dustin Butler of Bantai Civet Coffee
Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
The Coffee Gals have a special treat for our listeners. We are pleased to interview Dustin Butler of Bantai Civet Coffee. Dustin shares the story behind the coffee that costs $320 lb. Commonly called “weasel poop” coffee, the real story behind the Bantai Civet Coffee is one of conservation of land, endangered species and successful farming for native tribes. Everyone wins in this story, especially coffee aficionados.
When Dustin was kind enough to donate a 4oz batch of this premium and high priced blend to the Morning BrewCast an idea was born. We knew we would have to record a live tasting of the Bantai Civet Coffee, so why not invite one of our listeners to join us for this special treat? We devised a way to make this both a fun experience as well as one that could benefit the Julia Campbell Memorial Park where the coffee is grown and “harvested”.
Win the chance to be on the Morning BrewCast when we try the Bantai Civet Coffee with Dustin Butler at What’s Brewing in San Antonio, TX.
For every Ten Dollar donation receive an entry for the opportunity to sit down and have a cup or two of the Bantai Civet Coffee (aka weasel poop coffee). Donations will be sent directly to the Julia Campbell Memorial Park where the coffee is “produced”. Winner will be announced Wednesday, June 3rd. Out of town winners will have coffee shipped to them and will be Skyped in for the tasting on Saturday.

We can’t wait to enjoy this special brew with you!
Cheers,
Jennifer & Jackie

MBC #55 Sunday Morning Coffee
Monday, February 23rd, 2009Sunday Morning Coffee

Jackie and Jennifer were having a delicious cup of brew and chatting on a nice Sunday morning. So the desire to record hit. Thanks to the ease of BlogTalkRadio we were able to put a show out.
• A good friend of the show, Michael De Leon, sent us a link to the site, “Death by Caffeine”. We discover just how much caffeine it would take to kill Jennifer.
• Starbucks has created their own unique “soluble” version of instant coffee which will come out on March 3rd.
• We really like the Crop to Cup concept of creating a closer and more intimate connection between the farmer growing the beans and the coffee in our cups.
